Welcome to the first weekly craft roundup on CraftsCrazy! Every Saturday night from here on out, I will post a roundup of the best craft articles that have been published all over the web in the past week—give or take a few days.
I got a late start this week because it wasn’t until Wednesday that I decided to go ahead and start this column now instead of waiting for the official blog re-launch on March 1st. But even with the late start, I think I found some great posts to feature. So without further adieu, here they are!
Make Your Own Cabochons
The cabochon in this pendant is an enameled copper dome. This post gives a couple of tips, but assumes you already know how to enamel something. If you’re new to enameling, watch the YouTube video below.
Winter Rose Soap
This beautiful handmade soap embellished with roses contains dried rose petals, shea butter, and an assortment of oils. The only problem with this soap is that it’s too beautiful to ever use! If you like decorative soaps and you have a rose garden, you’ll want to give this one a try.
The Boyfriend Hat
Made of 100% merino wool yarn, this timeless stocking cap is both soft and warm. This hat would make a perfect gift for any man, provided it’s wintertime, of course. I found the pattern, which is located here, through this post.
Fat Quarter Bundle Giveaway
Maureen Cracknell Handmade is giving away a fat quarter bundle from The Intrepid Thread. You have until Monday the 17th to enter.
Mother and Daughter Amigurumi
This set would be great for Mother’s Day. You can buy the pattern on Amazon.com (affiliate link), or find out where else you can buy it here.
Wire Wrapped Earrings with Pearls
This is a pretty simple wire wrapping project. If you’re just getting started with wire-wrapping, you should be able to make a pair of these pretty hoop earrings with pearls or other round beads.
How to Sew a Fabric Rose
Follow the instructions in this post to learn how to sew a rose from organza or other lightweight fabric and turn it into a hair clip.
Wear Everywhere Dress
This simple dress pattern has just two pattern pieces and is designed for use with a knit fabric that has a moderate stretch. There are six sizes to fit anyone with a 31- to 40-inch bust. I need to lose a few pounds to make it, but I’m close! I found this post through Craft Gossip.
Handmade Nail Polish
You can get an idea of how to make your own nail polish in this article about Allison Spiekermann’s Nail Pattern Boldness, but of course, she doesn’t give away her exact recipe. If you want to skip the experimentation, you can buy a bottle or two from her website.
Crochet Geek Yarn Giveaway
The Crochet Geek is giving away four skeins of Loops and Threads yarn, a set of six Boye crochet hooks, some stitch markers, a pendant thread cutter, and a hairpin lace loom. The winner will be selected on Feb. 19, 2014.
How to Dye Acrylic Yarn
This yarn is really painted, not dyed, but it’s still a good way to upcycle plain white or light-colored yarn into something a little fancier.
This is the first CraftsCrazy weekly craft roundup, but it certainly won’t be the last. Which post is your favorite? What would you like to see more of?

Hi Deby! I love the dress, but I’m going to have to lose 2″ before I can wear it! ;)
I just signed up for the color theory class you linked to in your last post. I love those fabrics they’re using for it!
A great post with some lovely items. Thanks for including my silver and enamel pendant!
