Beth with Julia in carrier

My name is Beth Parker and I am crazy about crafts! My favorite is crochet, followed by jewelry making and painting on rocks. I love all of Lin Wellford’s rock painting books. I also knit, both by hand and by machine, although I haven’t had my machine out in a long time. I am a yarn and fabric addict. I love to drool over the beautiful beads in the Fire Mountain Gems catalog.

Random Facts about Me

I am happily married to the most wonderful man in the world, David Parker. I have four kids, two little ones and two all grown up. And guess what? We’re expecting another little one around December 24, 2014!

I play the flute. I have played my flute on the White House lawn, in the Detroit Thanksgiving Day parade and during the 7th inning stretch at a Detroit Tigers game. I’d like to learn to play the mountain dulcimer and hammered dulcimer.

As much as I love crafts (and I do!), I’ve come to realize that the garden is my true calling. I plan to start a farm and nursery next year, in the spring of 2015. This year, I’ll try to grow all of the fruits and veggies I need for my own family and preserve as much as possible. I might start raising rabbits for meat if I am able to come up with enough money for cages. I’ll start as many cuttings as possible this year so that I’ll have plenty of stock to open my nursery next spring.
